Okay, I literally just came home from watching X-Men: First Class. And I honestly do not know what people are bitching about, but then again I've never followed the comics. I know enough from browsing Wikipedia that the movie is waaaaay different from canon, but you know what? It was AWESOME anyway.

Granted, I may have been a bit distracted by the insane chemistry between James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, but I did make a conscious effort to pay attention to everyone else. Mystique was awesome too :P The other teenage mutant ninja turtles powers are kind of meh (I'm sorry, Angel, but dragonfly wings? Really? And the guy who supposedly instantaneously adapts to his environment is the first to get killed. How's that for "survival of the fittest"?). Sebastian Shaw's defeat was also kind of anticlimactic (what happened to all that energy he absorbed before Erik shut down the reactor? If Charles was so agonized about letting Erik kill Shaw, why didn't he just let Shaw go instead of desperately screaming at an already mentally impervious Erik?) But all the loopholes aside, I genuinely enjoyed the movie, not least because of how surprisingly lovely James McAvoy is. His eyes are soooooo blue *_* Especially in that scene near the end when Erik is trying to convince him to elope join his cause. The special effects were pretty cool and definitely showcased how damn near invincible Magneto is. All in all, it was a satisfying movie and I can't wait until the DVD comes out so I can watch Erik and Charles moon all over each other again :D
